The Mothering Side of God

1) What is the Image of God?
2) Where can we see the Image of God?
3) How can we live in the Image of God?

Isaiah 66:13: "As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you.

Point One What is The Image of God?

Genesis 1:27-28 (NLV) - - 27 And God made man in His own likeness. In the likeness of God He made him. He made both male and female. 28 And God wanted good to come to them, saying, “Give birth to many. Grow in number. Fill the earth and rule over it.

Genesis 5:1 (NLV) - - 1 When God made man, He made him in the likeness of God. 2 He made them male and female, and brought good to them. And He gave them the name Man when they were made.

The Hebrew term Man means a generic species of humankind...
So what God is saying here is let’s make humankind both male and female in our image.

God is made up of both masculine and feminine attributes. He has to be. Because we were made male and female. And it takes both to reflect His image.

Focus on the family describes us as being a mosaic of both feline and masculine attributes to reflect wholly together His image.

Point Two: Where can we see the Image of God?

John 14:9 (NLV) - - 9 “If you’ve seen Me you’ve seen the Father!”

Matthew 23:37 (NLV) - - “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem. . . ! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings!

Point Three: How we live in the image of God?

John 1:18 (KJV) - - 18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Conclusion

Jude 1:24-25 (NLV) - - 24 Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen
